Over the summer, Joey Hawkins became the third head coach in Missouri State baseball history. It might seem unlikely that a program that has played college baseball since 1964 could be on its third head coach, but that's what happens when you have a head coach who was in charge for 42 seasons, as was Hawkins' predecessor, Keith Guttin.
And what a job it was for Guttin. He began his tenure by guiding the Bears through a promotion to Division I, an immediate success in the conference now known as the Conference.[…]
