Donald Trump Rings the Opening Bell at the New York Stock Exchange

Pcandidate Donald Trump responded Thursday morning by being named TIME's Person of the Year for 2024 and championed the prospects for America's economic growth in his second term.

Trump said that when he takes office in January, he is better prepared to understand how to operate his administration and use his power. “'Now we have experience that we didn't have,'” he said.

“TIME Magazine, receiving this honor for the second time, I think I like it better this time,” Trump said at the New York Stock Exchange before ringing the opening bell alongside TIME CEO Jessica Sibley and others. Since 1927, TIME has named a Person of the Year, recognizing a person who has made the biggest impact on the world and the headlines, for better or worse. Trump was previously Person of the Year in 2016, when he first won the presidency.

Members of Trump's family and incoming cabinet stood behind Trump as he spoke, including Vice President-elect JD Vance, daughter Ivanka Trump, Health and Human Services Department nominee Robert F. Kennedy Jr., Environmental Protection Agency nominee Lee Zeldin, Ministry of Finance. appointee Scott Bessent, Department of Housing and Urban Development appointee Scott Turner.

In his words, Trump talked about encouraging investment in the United States industry, including tax reductions for those who make their products in the US “We will also create an incentive.” Trump said. “For those who run big companies, those big, big and good companies, no one will leave us. You will be coming back; you will be returning it to the United States. We want you back here, the car manufacturers, everybody.”
