Season 1 focused heavily on Lydia's grief and how the trial of Jacob's death took a toll on her mental health. Lydia began to have doubts about selling their home when she noticed the lights going on and off in Jacob's bedroom – something she took as a sign that her son was still texting.

Lydia's determination led to Mikey's death which turned out to be a false alarm. Then he crossed paths with his neighbor Margo. That brief friendship fell apart when Lydia realized that Margo had been training her teenage son and killed him. After connecting the pieces, Lydia was able to start playing the piano again and reconnected with her daughter.

No Good Deed presents Margo as a woman in a loveless marriage who wants to move on. Margo was also one of the people interested in the Morgan house, and she tried to trick husband JD into buying it for them. As the series unfolded, it became clear that Margo had spread many lies. He didn't tell JD that he grew up poor and deliberately set her up so they could get married and get her money.

Margo did not tell Lydia about her affair with Jacob, which led to his death. Margo found out about this lie and almost died in her home after a fire accident. In her last scene, Margo was running away (and part of her face was mysteriously burned) but Mikey's son, Nate (Kevin Alves), was still looking for him and was arrested.

JD's gun was the one that killed Jacob but he was not the one holding it when it went off. Before Margo could suspect, JD left her and changed her life. The season ended with him working on a new project that could be a Taylor Sheridan production based on the cowboy hat and hat he was rocking in the scene.
