Former US House Speaker Nancy Pelosi underwent successful hip surgery in Luxembourg on Saturday and is “in good condition,” her office said in a statement.

Pelosi, 84, was injured on a trip to Luxembourg and was admitted to hospital for tests, her office said on Friday.

He was in Europe with a bipartisan congressional delegation to mark the 80th anniversary of the Battle of the Bulge in World War II.

“Speaker Pelosi is very grateful to the US military personnel at Landstuhl Regional Medical Center at Landstuhl Army Base and the medical staff at Kirchberg Hospital in Luxembourg for their excellent care and kindness,” said his spokesman Ian Krager in a statement released Saturday.

Pelosi was the first woman to be Speaker of the House and a former leader of the House Democratic Caucus.
