Jamie Foxx is recovering after a physical altercation at a Beverly Hills restaurant
Jamie Foxx is recovering after an incident at a restaurant during his birthday dinner on Friday left him injured.
“Jamie Foxx was at his birthday dinner when someone at the table threw a glass and hit him in the mouth,” Foxx's spokesperson said. “He had to be stitched up and he is recovering. The police were called and the matter is in the hands of the law enforcement.”
The Beverly Hills Police Department said it responded to “a report of a possible assault with a deadly weapon at Mr. Chow's restaurant, located at 344 N. Camden Drive.” The incident happened just after 10 p.m., police said, although the department did not release Foxx's name.
“After an investigation, police determined that the reported assault with a deadly weapon was unfounded,” BHPD said. “Instead, this incident caused a dispute between the parties. BHPD conducted a preliminary investigation and completed a report documenting the battery. No one has been arrested.”
CNN reached out to Mr. Chow to comment.
The incident comes days after the Hollywood star detailed his health issues last year in a Netflix special titled: “Jamie Foxx: What Happened.”
'I don't remember 20 days'
In a Netflix special released Tuesday, Foxx said he suffered a brain bleed that led to a stroke during a medical emergency last year.
“It's a mystery,” the Oscar-winning actor said in the Netflix special. “We still don't know exactly what happened to me.”
“On April 11, I had a headache and asked my boyfriend for aspirin. And I quickly realized that when you're in a medical emergency, your guys don't know what to do,” he said on Netflix.
“Before I got the aspirin I passed out,” she said. “I don't remember 20 days.”
Foxx thanked his sister, who he said was “4 foot 11 nothing but pure love,” for driving him to Atlanta to find the hospital.
They ended up at Piedmont Hospital, where the doctor told them that Foxx had a brain bleed that led to a stroke and that he would die without surgery, the actor said in a special Netflix show.
After the surgery, doctors said Foxx may make a full recovery, “but it's going to be the worst year of his life,” Foxx told Netflix.
