LOS ANGELES – “Football safety is job safety.”
UCLA assistant coach Bryant Ward spoke to the Bruins during early practice about the importance of belt coverage, but the message was part of a larger focus heading into UCLA's fall.
“Ball security, run prevention. “Run blocking was a big focus in the fall,” coach John Savage said. “We want to get back to Bruin pitching and Bruin defense.”
The Bruins are coming off their worst season for Savage, 20, at UCLA, where it looked like something could go wrong, starting with pitching injuries that forced small forwards.[…]
