The FBI is investigating the deaths of passengers on an LA-docked Royal Caribbean cruise ship

The death of a 35-year-old man is being investigated by the FBI after he was reportedly arrested by crew while on board a Royal Caribbean cruise ship docked in Los Angeles.

According to a passenger who spoke to Fox 11, the man was tied up with zip ties and hit with pepper spray by staff on Friday after allegedly being out of control. The ship was en route from Los Angeles to Ensenada, Mexico, when the incident occurred.

Passenger Christopher Mikhail said the man appeared drunk and violent.

“The gentleman who was drunk said he was going to kill us,” Mikhail told the news station. “He started chasing us down the hallway.”

The video of the incident showed a man kicking the door and reportedly attacked the workers. He also spewed profanity and made racist remarks, according to Mikhail.

Later in the video, several members in uniform are shown crowding around a person lying on the carpeted hallway floor. The man was traveling with his fiancee and young son, Fox 11 reported. He died on Friday aboard the Navigator of the Seas and there were no immediate details on the cause of his death.

In a statement sent to the news channel, Royal Caribbean Cruises said they were “saddened by the passing of one of our guests.” We have supported the family and are cooperating with the authorities in their investigation.”

An FBI spokesperson said in a statement that the agency “responded to a Royal Caribbean cruise ship on Monday to investigate an incident on board that resulted in a fatality. Our investigation is ongoing.”
