Illegal immigrant sexually assaulted child in US after being removed from the country 5 times
Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials in New York have arrested an illegal immigrant born in Mexico who sexually assaulted a child after being removed from the country five times.
According to ICE, the criminal, Raymond Rojas Basilio, 36, sexually assaulted an 11-year-old child in the US.
Rojas committed this crime after being removed from the country five times and then re-entered on an unknown date and in an unknown place, without being admitted by an immigration officer.
The New York Police Department arrested Rojas on Aug. 28, 2023. He was later found guilty of sexually assaulting an 11-year-old by Kings County Superior Court in Brooklyn on September 20, 2024. The court sentenced him to 60 days in jail and six years and required him to register as a sex offender.

New York ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations agents then arrested Rojas outside his Queens residence on Dec. 17.
The US Border Patrol first arrested Rojas, following three separate attempts to enter the US illegally near Douglas, Arizona, in May 2002.
Border Patrol agents then arrested Rojas and on Jan. 6, 2012, at the Dennis DeConcini Port of Entry in Nogales, Arizona, when he attempted to enter the country using an Arizona Driver's License and a US birth certificate. A few days later, on Jan. 11, border authorities again removed Rojas after he tried to enter the country using forged documents at another port of entry in Nogales.
New York ICE Field Office Director Kenneth Genalo commented on the arrest, saying: “This criminal has demonstrated time and time again that he has no regard for the laws of our country, as evidenced by his repeated attempts to enter the United States illegally or fraudulently.”

“As this case shows, it only takes one trespasser to cause irreparable harm to a member of our community,” he continued.
He said local “non-cooperation policies” prevented ICE from immediately arresting Rojas following his conviction by a Brooklyn court.
“However, due to the diligence of our police officers, ERO New York City was able to quickly apprehend this threat to public safety before it harmed other New Yorkers,” said Genalo.
According to the statement, Rojas is currently being held in ICE custody pending removal from Mexico.
