Before the opening on Friday, August 9, TikTok experts suspected that there was a rift between the two – linked to the final cut of the film. Speculations of a feud began to heat up when fans noticed that Lively, 36, unfollowed Baldoni, 40, on Instagram, and neither did any of the other cast members. (Lively is also a producer on the project, while Baldoni is directing the film.)

Eagle-eyed fans also pointed out that Baldoni was noticeably absent from the movie's joint press events and there were no large cast photos from the New York City premiere.
Lively added fuel to the fire when she revealed that her husband, Ryan Reynoldshe wrote part of the rooftop scene in the film. He noted at the time that he and Reynolds, 47, often enlist each other to help with various projects. Reynolds was later approached to help promote the film by doing an interview with Sklenar.
In accordance with The Hollywood ReporterLively allegedly then asked the editor to cut the film Shane Reid before the film was completed. (Reid previously worked with Lively on Taylor SwiftHe directed the music video for “I Bet You Think About Me”. He also worked as an editor at Reynolds' Deadpool and Wolverine.)
The outlet noted that it was not clear whether anything was cut – given to editors Oona Flaherty again Robb Sullivan – was used in the last version.
Us Weekly discovered that it's not uncommon for someone to submit a different version of a film as part of the editing process before the film opens in theaters.
In Lively and Baldoni's case, the source said, “All parties agreed on the final cut of the film and agreed that it was the best version of the film.”
Despite rumors of a rift between Lively and Baldoni, who play Lily Bloom and Ryle Kincaid, respectively, Baldoni sang Lively's songs throughout her press tour. He also lined up his costar to direct a possible sequel, which would be based on Hoover's It starts with us a novel.
“I think there are better people for that,” Baldoni said Entertainment Tonight on Tuesday, August 6, when asked if he would pull double duty for the next possible installment.
He added, “I think Blake Lively is ready to direct. That's what I think,” noting that he needed a “vacation” after acting and directing the film.
