A teenage entertainer was stabbed to death in Azusa days before Christmas
A 17-year-old girl was stabbed to death in Azusa by her ex-boyfriend just days before Christmas, according to her family.
The Azusa Police Department responded around 10 a.m. Friday to a report of an assault with a deadly weapon on North Soldano Avenue, according to a police news release.
Police found a girl at the scene with stab wounds; He was taken to the hospital, where he died, police said.
An 18-year-old suspect has been arrested, officials said. The case will be presented to the Los Angeles County District Attorney's office for criminal prosecution.
The family of the deceased has identified her as Angelina Camillia Gonzales.
Robert Caraballo, Angelina's stepfather, told ABC7 that the suspect picked Angelina up from the party and took her to his home. The family was eventually able to locate Angelina by tracking her cell phone.
“When I got there, there were tape ups and forensics and all kinds of things. I ran to the police and said, 'Hey, my daughter is in there. You know, my daughter is in there. I'm trying to find him. He is not at home.' That's when they told me, 'Sit aside for a minute,'” Caraballo said.
Caraballo told the outlet that he had told Angelina to stay away from her ex.
Angelina's family is raising money through GoFundMe to help cover funeral expenses.
“He had a heart of gold. He was my beautiful Angel child. I don't even have words to say. I can't even stand it. I need him. Our family is devastated,” Angelina's mother, Leticia Pimentel Caraballo wrote on the page.
