Biden signs 50 bills, including one sponsored by Paris Hilton, on Christmas Eve

President Biden spent Christmas Eve signing new bills into law authorizing everything from the state's official bird to the protection of children in juvenile facilities.

Here are a few of the more stressful vacation rules:

Stop the Institutional Child Abuse Act

Singer and actress Paris Hilton has spent months pushing for federal legislation to hold treatment centers and youth care facilities accountable. He has made several appearances on Capitol Hill to urge lawmakers to pass the Institutional Child Abuse Act in the House and Senate.

December was a fruitful month as the Senate unanimously approved the measure and the House voted 367 to 33, sending the bill to President Biden's desk. He signed the act into law on Tuesday, to succeed Hilton, who has expressed interest in becoming an elected official.

Set Up the Campus Rule

Biden also passed legislation that creates disclosure regulations for federally funded higher education institutions, requiring them to include reports of institutional abuse in their annual security reports. The bill was sponsored by Reps. Lucy McBath (D-Ga.) and Jeff Duncan (RS.C.) in the House in addition to Sens. Amy Klobuchar (D-Minn.) and Bill Cassidy (R-La.).

Hazing is often experienced as part of college pledging practices for campus fraternities and sororities. More than half of college students are involved in some form of hazing, according to North Carolina State University.

Postal positions

The president signed two bills renaming local post offices to honor community leaders in the states of Texas and California.

Located at 1106 Main St. in Bastrop, Texas, is now the office of Sergeant Major Billy D. Waugh to honor the former CIA intelligence officer and Army soldier who served the country for more than five decades.

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) and John Cornyn (R-Texas) sponsored the legislation.

San Francisco will rename an office in honor of Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.), for a bill sponsored by Sens. Laphonza Butler (D-Calif.) and Alex Padilla (D-Calif.).

Redesigning Federal buildings

Biden has signed several bills to renovate government buildings. The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) public clinic in Lynchburg, Va., will now be known as the Private First Class Desmond T. Doss VA Clinic.

The VA medical center in Tulsa, Okla., was renamed after Sen. The late Jim Inhofe (R-Okla.). Sens. James Lankford (R-Okla.) and Markwayne Mullin (R-Okla.) sponsored the bill.

The late Sen. Paul Sarbanes (D-Md.) also received a special honor at the Fort McHenry National Historic Monument and Historic Shrine in Baltimore, Md., as the Paul S. Sarbanes Visitor and Education Center will bear his name.

This effort was sponsored by the senator's son, Rep. John Sarbanes (D-Md.), and the state congressional delegation.

The official bird of the US

While the bald eagle has long been America's unofficial mascot, Biden signed the first law to make the official official on Christmas Eve.

The Biden administration has also pulled out last-minute surprises, including pardons for federal prison inmates, during his last month in office. He will hand over the command to President-elect Trump in January.
