A plane crashed in Kazakhstan with dozens on board but there may be survivors, officials said.
An Azerbaijan Airlines passenger plane from the capital of Kazakhstan, Baku, to Grozny in Russia crashed on Wednesday in western Kazakhstan, the Kazakh Ministry of Transport said.
Azerbaijan Airlines, that country's flag carrier, said the Embraer 190 “made an emergency landing” about two kilometers from Aktau, an oil and gas center on the east coast of the Caspian Sea.
The Ministry of Transport in Kazakhstan said there were 62 passengers and five crew members on the plane, while the Ministry of Emergency Situations in the country said preliminary information indicated that there were survivors.
Crews were putting out the fire in the area, the emergency department said.
