The UN Secretary-General will not criticize an official accused of illegality; The US has said it will issue a visitor visa
UN Secretary-General António Guterres has also been criticized for not speaking out against Francesca Albanese, the controversial UN special secretary for the Palestinian territories, who has been convicted of anti-Semitism.
Albanese is traveling to the US to present his latest report, “Genocide as Decolonization,” before the UN General Assembly's Third Committee, which deals with social, humanitarian and cultural issues.
Albanese's report, now widely circulated among representatives of member states, shows that “the mask is gone,” according to Anne Bayefsky, president of Human Rights Voices and director of the Touro University Institute on Human Rights and the Holocaust.
“The Albanian goal is the destruction of the Jewish state,” said Bayefsky, saying that the Albanian report is “a new, unchanging statement – translated, produced and distributed worldwide by the United Nations – with no knowledge of regional and religious history.

“[Albanese] he says the Jewish people are colonists in Israel and were involved in the massacre as part of a 'hundred-year project.' It would be good if his incitement of hatred and incitement to violence were not so deadly.”
Danny Danon, Israel's ambassador to the UN, told Fox News Digital Albanese “has failed in his role as UN special secretary. He does not care about the welfare of Israelis or ordinary Gazans but instead has shown a love of spreading hatred. Over and over again, he has succeeded in continuing to sell dangerous weapons of war and antisemitic and openly supports the Hamas terrorists who live in Gaza.”
He also issued a warning to US colleges, saying “Albanese's recent reports show how deep his hatred runs,” adding that he “must not be allowed near any educational institution where he can spread his vicious hatred under the UN flag.”
On October 17, Albanese also posted a diatribe accusing the Jewish state of “bloodlust,” calling it “a must read for many years.”
Accompanying the article was a cartoon showing a person in a respirator and hazmat suit holding an Israeli flag and an American flag pin with bloody hands giving two thumbs up. Bayefsky said the image was “classic antisemitism.”
Fox News Digital asked Farhan Haq, deputy spokesman for UN Secretary-General António Guterres, whether the secretary-general would criticize Albanese for his illegal comments and whether Guterres believes Albanese is acting in accordance with the UN Code of Conduct.
Haq said that “as a matter of principle” Guterres “does not comment on rapporteurs” and does not have the authority to eliminate Albanian or reduce his salary.
Asked about his controversial remarks, Haq said the UN chief is “strongly opposed to anti-Semitism, to anyone.”
Albanese's critics say he does not comply with the UN Code of Conduct for Special Procedures mandate holders of the Human Rights Council, which states that “all human rights must be treated fairly and equally,” and that mandate holders must “respect the law.” the highest standards … of integrity, impartiality, equality, honesty and good faith.”

Pascal Sim, spokesman for the UN Human Rights Council, was asked by Fox News Digital whether the council would censure Albanese for his behavior and anti-Semitism or relieve him of his position.
Sim said “the positions of the Human Rights Council are expressed in decisions, resolutions and presidential statements adopted by its 47 countries at the end of each session.” He went on to explain that “at this time, I have no information on what the council can or cannot do regarding any special procedures authorizing the administration beyond what was recently decided at the recently concluded 57th meeting.”
Bayefsky said the failure to deal with Albanian behavior was offensive.
“In yet another scandal, UN Secretary-General Guterres is bending over backwards to protect the Albanians and not his victims,” Bayefsky said.
Bayefsky said “there is nothing to stop him from denouncing his anti-Semitic behavior, calling for his dismissal and taking the case of his flagrant violation of UN ethics to his UN legal affairs office for further action.”
Albanese did not respond to Fox News Digital's requests for comment on the alleged anti-Semitism.
Albanese tweeted on October 24 that he was “disappointed” by the “false, recycled allegations against me,” and said he was “deeply committed to the human rights of all people.”

Asked if Albanese's anti-Semitic statements worried him as he prepares to visit American colleges, a State Department spokesperson told Fox News Digital “the US strongly concludes that. [Albanese] he is unfit for his job or any role in the United Nations. Our commitment to upholding the rights of all people is unwavering, and we will continue to stand up against illegality. ”
The spokesman also explained that the US Ambassador to the UN Linda Thomas-Greenfield, the US Ambassador to the UN Human Rights Council Michèle Taylor and the US special envoy on Antisemitism Deborah Lipstadt recently expressed “strong disagreement” with the Albanians.
Statements filed in X by both US ambassadors condemned the Albanian intransigence. Thomas-Greenfield wrote in part in X that, “There is no room for opposition to UN officials who deal with human rights,” while the US Ambassador to the UN Human Rights Council, Michèle Taylor, invoked the words of the UN chief when comparing the Israeli prime minister. minister to Hitler as, “Reprehensible and anti-Semitic.”
Fox News Digital also asked if the State Department intends to ban Albanese's travel or restrict his movement in the vicinity of the UN, an action it has taken in the past with unfriendly foreign diplomats traveling on United Nations business.
A State Department spokeswoman said the department could not comment because “visa records are confidential under US law.”

Bayefsky criticized the refusal of the Department of State to limit Albanian travel, because “he is in the business of inciting, spreading and inciting the fight against violence. The Department of State should be in the business of protecting the American people from the burning hatred of the international tourist. .
“The United States has no obligation, as a host country of the UN, to facilitate his travel outside the UN as part of his insidious attempt to reach American campuses. If the State Department refuses to do its job and place his visa accordingly, then they are helping they encouraged the spread of antisemitism throughout America.”
The Anti-Defamation League reported that Albanese's college tour will include visits to Georgetown University, Barnard College and Princeton. It is reported that he will speak at John Jay College in New York City during his visit to the US.
