Kate Middleton, Princess of Wales, Confirms Cancer Remission

Catherine, Princess of Wales, said on Tuesday that her cancer is in remission, lifting a huge cloud over the British royal family, which has been dealing with serious health concerns for her and King Charles III.

“It's a relief now that I'm in remission and I'm focused on recovery,” wrote Catherine, Prince William's wife on Instagram.

“As anyone who has been diagnosed with cancer will know, it takes time to adjust to a new normal. However, I am looking forward to a successful year,” he added. “We have a lot to look forward to.”

Catherine said last September that she had finished chemotherapy for her cancer and her goal was to remain cancer free. But Kensington Palace, where she and William have their offices, declined to say at the time whether her doctors had determined she was clinically cancer-free, or whether she was receiving other treatments.

The palace has not confirmed the type of cancer that attacked Catherine, how far it had progressed, or what other treatment options she had, other than chemotherapy. He was diagnosed with cancer in January after being hospitalized for 14 days for stomach surgery.

Catherine's announcement on Tuesday appeared to be more promising than the update last fall, although Kensington Palace also provided more medical details. The palace official warned that Catherine will return to her work gradually throughout the year.

His announcement that he was on the mend came during a visit to the Royal Marsden Hospital, in west London, where he was being treated. “My heartfelt thanks go out to all who have walked in peace beside me and William as we navigated everything,” Catherine wrote.

This is a developing story. Check back for updates.
