Rubio dismisses protesters who broke out in the Senate courtroom: 'I get protesters who speak two languages'

Florida Republican Sen. Marco Rubio, who was nominated to lead the State Department under Trump's second administration, was repeatedly interrupted by protesters during his Senate hearing on Wednesday.

One female protester was heard shouting at Rubio in Spanish, and at least two men, including one wearing pink, were seen being escorted from the square by Capitol Police after shouting.

“I get bilingual protesters,” Rubio said with a laugh after a protester yelled at him in Spanish, drawing laughter from the crowd.

Ahead of the hearing Wednesday morning, Fox News Digital saw Code Pink protesters wearing red shirts that read, “hands off Iran,” and “stop killing the children of Gaza.” They also sport anti-Rubio stickers on their headbands and hats.

HEGSETH DISRUPTED MANY PROTESTERS DURING SENATE CONFIRMATION HEARING

The protesters were warned by the chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee before the hearing began not to disrupt the proceedings, saying they would be removed from the proceedings and would not be allowed to return to the courtroom for at least a year.

“Disruptions will not only include noise, not only standing up, not only carrying painted hands, painted signs. That will not be allowed. If you do that, I will suspend the committee. I will ask our friends, first, I, the faithful, the Sergeant at Arms here — who , perhaps, more powerful than the Capitol Police to help you. And, we'll stop short … you've been removed, you won't be allowed back into any of these public conversations for at least 12 months again, that's the goal of this, as I said, is also an important task,” Republican Idaho Sen. James Risch, the chairman. of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, he said during his opening remarks.

The confirmation hearing for Energy Department nominee Chris Wright was again interrupted by protesters on Wednesday, who complained about whether his policies would “put out a fire in LA.”

Protesters also disrupted Pete Hegseth's Senate confirmation hearing on Tuesday, when he joined the Senate Armed Services Committee, when he was questioned by lawmakers before the committee's vote and the final confirmation vote on his nomination as Secretary of Defense.

“Veterans are killing themselves and homeless, but we're sending money to bomb children in Gaza,” one fatigue-clad female protester shouted as she was escorted to court, Fox News Digital video shows.

A zip-tied old man was also seen leaving the court. Another man, who appeared to be wearing fatigues, was there appears to be done by the Capitol Police.

Sen. Tom Cotton, R-Ark., asked Hegseth about the protesters during his hearing, including Israel's ongoing war since 2023.

“One protester, and I think this was a member of Code Pink, which, by the way, is the leading group of Chinese Communists these days, said he supports Israel's war on Gaza. I support Israel's current war on Gaza. I think, like me and President Trump, he supports that war as well ,” Cotton said.
