LAPD officers were injured after responding to a reported robbery in South LA
Two LAPD officers were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries after a shooting in South Los Angeles Friday night, authorities said.
These officers responded around 09:00 on Friday to a reported robbery in the 9200 block of Central Avenue in the Southeast Division of the LAPD, said Los Angeles police officer Drake Madison.
The LAPD said the officers fired their weapons while confronting the armed suspect. It is not clear whether the officers were shot directly or injured by explosives, the police said, although a police source told The Times newspaper that one of the officers had a gash.
The officers were taken to hospital but their injuries were not considered life-threatening, authorities said. Both officers were unconscious and talking when they arrived at the hospital, according to a police source.
The investigation into the robbery and shooting is ongoing, authorities said. Police had not made any arrests as of just before 11 p.m. Friday.
