Mariah Carey Reacts to Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Snub
Mariah Carey opens up about narrowly missing induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.
The “We Belong Together” singer was announced as one of the inductees to the hall of fame in February along with it. Cher, Ozzy Osbourne again Mary J. Bligebut it did not make it when the graduates were announced in April.
“My thoughts are: I didn't get in,” Carey said in an interview The Los Angeles Times published on Wednesday, October 30, when asked about this matter. “Everybody was calling me saying I'm leaving, 'I think you're coming in!' so I was happy about it. But it didn't happen.”
Then he said, “My lawyer went into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame before me.”
Carey was referring to an entertainment lawyer Allen Grubmanwho has represented the popularity of Lady Gaga, Madonna again Jennifer Lopezand was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2022 as a recipient of the Ahmet Ertegun Award, which recognizes non-players whose work has had a lasting impact on the music industry.
In his interview no LA TimesCarey, 55, also talked about winning five Grammy Awards in her career.
“They gave me two Grammys when I started playing,” he said. “Then one year – a big year for me, career-wise – I had six appointments with the team Daydream album with 'One Sweet Day' and 'Always Be My Baby' and 'Fantasy.' All those songs in a row ended up being so big that you just thought, 'Okay, at least “One Sweet Day” is going to win best duet or something.' Then I sat there the whole time and got nothing. I was like, This is not fun. But what should I do? Be a big loser and say, 'F the Grammys?'
“Anything else. “If they give me more Grammys, I'm going to love them more,” joked Carey.
Carey recently opened her Grammys record on the October 16 episode of the “Las Culturistas” podcast hosted by. Bowen Yang again Matt Rogers.
Carey won her first two Grammys in 1991, where she was nominated for five awards. That year, she took home the awards for Best New Artist and Best Pop Female Vocal Performance for “Vision of Love.” His next Grammy Awards came in 2006 when he won two “We Belong Together” and Best Contemporary R&B Album nods.
