Ben Higgins Hints At Daughter Name With Wife Jess Clarke
Ben Higgins and the wife Jessica Clarke have chosen a name for their future baby girl — but they haven't shared it yet.
“It won't be weird when people are like, 'Wow.' But it’s part of my life,” teased Higgins, 35, during the Tuesday, November 5, episode of his “Almost Famous” podcast. “The only advice I will give.”
His podcast producer Ashley Iconetti he started guessing names, one of which was Indiana, Higgins' home state. Higgins refused to share the first letter of the name, and their podcast producer threw in Rose as an option.
“That's not a bad word, actually. I don't hate that,” said Higgins, playing coy.
The former Bachelor star said she and Clarke, 29, are “open” to other names although they have an idea in mind. “It's scheduled today,” he explained. “I mean, last week, Jess came home and said, 'Hey, what about this name?' And I was like, 'I thought we had a name.'
While Higgins said she was “told” never to share the children's names publicly until the baby is born, Iaconetti – who is a mother of two sons and a Bachelor Nation alum. Jared Haibon – he agreed.
Higgins and Clarke announced in August that they are preparing to welcome their first child, a daughter. He said on Tuesday that their daughter's kindergarten is officially ready for her arrival.
“I'm tired. It's been wild,” Higgins said of making the bed. “It's ready to go. That baby is set, and yes, I'm happy about it. I feel very happy where we are.”
After Clarke's pregnancy, Higgins said Us Weekly only that he was “terrified” of being the girl's father.
“With a girl, there are 1000 worst-case scenarios in my mind and I know she's going to break my heart,” he said during an interview in August. “You will break [my heart] because it is too full.”
He admitted that he was worried about being “a pile of tears and mushrooms forever” when his role as a father began.
“I can't imagine walking in the door and seeing my little girl running up to me and being like, 'Daddy, you're here.' That just crushes me, and it makes me happy, and it makes me feel like everything,” the Bachelor Nation alum said. Us. “I know I will hear everything and what worries me the most is what will be done to me.”
Higgins is revealed to him Us that she and Clarke went through intrauterine insemination (IUI) before she got pregnant. The couple, who tied the knot in 2021, “feel really lucky” and “very excited” about this next chapter. Higgins also praised his wife's strength during her pregnancy.
“This thing is crazy because if I was pregnant I wouldn't be able to do it,” he said. “So, seeing him with this spirit of gratitude in all of this really taught me. I learned a lot from him.”
