Eric Winter he has a few hot spots when it comes to his perfect Thanksgiving menu.
“It's a strong voice of hate, but I'm not a fan of the band,” admitted Winter, 48, in the latest issue of Us Weekly. “I'd rather have chicken or something else. If it's going to be turkey, it's going to be dark meat, or, like, wrinkled skin. [on the turkey]. He's not just a big turkey guy. “
While The Rookie The star is not a big fan of turkey, his favorite Thanksgiving meal is one of the most common holiday meals. “[I love] sweet potato, kind of, a casserole with marshmallows on top,” he shares. “Sweet and creamy and just cinnamon — all the right flavors.”
Another top on her list is none other than pumpkin pie with whipped cream on top. He says: “It just symbolizes time.” “It feels good. It sounds right. It's very autumnal and I love the taste.”
Since he tied the knot with Roselyn Sanchez in 2008, the winter Thanksgiving spread featured a variety of traditional and innovative recipes. “Because my wife is Puerto Rican, they put everything together differently. The taste is delicious,” he explains. “Puerto Rican Thanksgiving makes me more happy than what I'm used to like American Thanksgiving, just coming out with beautiful pastels and tostones and mofongo and all these things they do and how they cook their food. So, I think that is our culture now. That's great.”
Food aside, said Winter Us her favorite thing about Thanksgiving is the leftovers. “I actually think that sometimes it tastes better the next day if you put it on a plate and grind it there,” he said.
One drink sure to be served at Winter's holiday festivities this year is his Palm Republic rum. Company – established Brad Parkes earlier this year – inspired by a trip he took to Puerto Rico to meet Sánchez's family for the first time.

Olivia Wong/Getty Images“I've never been a rum drinker and I was like, 'This is so delicious,'” he told. Us. “[It] it inspired me to start trying rums all over Puerto Rico and while I was traveling, I tried different rums. … It was like bringing people together. It was such a concept after that. “
Although Sánchez – with whom Winter shares children Sebella, 12, and Dylan, 7 – does not drink, the actress says she has been “very supportive” of her new venture. He says: “His family has been behind me jumping into this space because in the Caribbean, there is rum. “That's their bourbon, that's their whiskey, that's what they drink all the time. We don't take ourselves too seriously, usually. I always say, 'Look, I'm a Cancer, you're an Aries. We don't even have to agree on that,'” he joked. “But I'm saying that I actually calm his fire enough and he'll boil my water enough to keep it interesting and fun.”
Calling having a sense of humor in a relationship “compulsory,” he continues: “We have our moments and when you take things seriously and are too serious about anything, everything becomes more difficult. And if you can just laugh and even fight at times, laugh at the silly disagreements, it makes it easier.”
