Dolphins' Tyreek Hill floats latest theory about being arrested near NFL field amid wrist injury battle

Miami Dolphins star Tyreek Hill sat out Monday night's game against the Los Angeles Rams with what he described as a torn hamstring in his wrist.

The eight-time Pro Bowler was a game-time decision heading into “Monday Night Football” and missed practice recently. While Hill told ESPN that he has been dealing with wrist issues since training camp, he says that the incidents that occurred as he was arrested by police near the Dolphins stadium in September aggravated the injury.

Hill added that he previously underwent an MRI which confirmed a torn wrist ligament.

Hill added that he decided to keep the injury quiet earlier this week. But, “that arrest disturbed me,” he told ESPN. “[not going to] let it stop me.”

Miami police made a traffic stop on Sept. 8, hours before the Dolphins' season opener against the Jacksonville Jaguars was scheduled to begin. Hill was on his way to the game at the time.

Bodycam footage shows officers stopping by Hill's car and telling him he was speeding. Hill asks how fast he was going but is told to back off.

The officer knocks on the window and Hill tells the officer not to knock on his window like that as he hands over his driver's license. Hill then tells the officer to give him his ticket and rolls down the window. The officer tells Hill to keep his window down.

“Keep your window down, or I'm going to get you out of the car. Actually, get out of the car,” said the officer.

The second officer threatens to break the window.

“We're not playing this game,” another officer said as the camera showed one officer opening the door, getting into Hill's car and pulling him out with the help of a third officer.

“Hey Drew, I'm under arrest Drew,” Hill was heard talking to his agent, Drew Rosenhaus.

Another police officer says, “When we tell you to do something, you don't do what you want but when we tell you to. You're a little confused.”

Hill isn't putting up the eye-popping stats so far this season that fans have become accustomed to over the years. At least some of the decline in production can be attributed to the quarterback issues the Dolphins have experienced this season. Regular starter Tua Tagovailoa has missed time this year with a concussion.

Hill has finished each of the past four seasons with more than 1,000 yards, including a career-best 1,799 in 2023.
