Cheryl Cole Keeps Her Head Down While Attending Liam Payne's Funeral

Cheryl Cole went to the ex-boyfriend Liam Paynehis funeral on Wednesday, November 20.

The singer looked sad as he went to the church where Payne's private funeral was held in Amersham, England. Cole, 41, was wearing all black and sunglasses as he walked in alone. Cole and Payne have a 7-year-old son Bear.

Payne died at the age of 31 on October 16 after falling from the third floor balcony of a hotel in Argentina.

His parents, Karen again Geoff Paynethey were seen holding back tears at the funeral on Wednesday. Payne's girlfriend, Kate Cassidywas there with his One Direction band, Harry styles, Liam Payne, Zayn Malik again Louis Tomlinson. Two of Cole's Girls Aloud band – Ncola Roberts again Kimberley Walsh – they were photographed again.

Cole was photographed outside the Bear on Wednesday, but there was a floral arrangement reading “Dad” on display outside the church. Payne and Cole met in 2008 while competing IX Factor UKbut their love affair did not begin until years later. They were together from 2016 to 2018 and adopted Bear in March 2017, one year before the split.

Cole addressed Payne's death in a social media statement sent days after his sudden death.

“As I try to look at this event that is destroying the world and face my grief in this painful time in an indescribable way, I would like to remind everyone that we have lost someone,” he wrote on October 18, sharing his photo. Payne holding a Bear cub. “Liam wasn't just a pop star and celebrity, he was a son, brother, uncle, dear friend and father to our 7-year-old son. The son now has to face the fact that he may never see his father again.”

Although Cheryl Cole and Liam Payne's love never ended, they were devoted parents to their son, Bear. While Cole and Payne kept Bear mostly out of the public eye, the “Strip That Down” singer wasn't shy when it came to talking about fatherhood in various interviews.

“I was so excited about his birth that I actually got worried [that] I can't love her enough,” Payne recalled on the “Impaulsive” podcast in May 2022. She also praised Cole as a mother.

“You are the best mother in the world. I couldn't have asked for a better person,” he said at the time. “The relationship we have now as friends has grown a lot. We broke up for a reason and now you give me full independence of my life and do what I do and what I know [Bear’s] you are taken care of. She is everything she cares about and I couldn't ask for more.”
