Zach Bryan Skips The CMAs Amid Messy Brianna Chickenfry Breakup
Morgan Wallen wasn't the only star to miss out on country music's biggest night.
Zach Bryan28, also made headlines for his no-show at the Country Music Awards in Nashville on Wednesday, November 20, despite being nominated for his music. Kacey Musgraves. (The artists were nominated in the Music of the Year competition for “I Remember Everything,” although the award was won Ela Langley again Riley Green “You Look Like You Love Me.”)
It seems Bryan instead opted for a low-key vacation with his chocolate labrador, Jack Daniels. While the CMAs were underway Wednesday night, the “Pink Skies” singer shared a sweet photo on her Instagram Stories of Jack watching from afar while spending time on what appeared to be a rocky beach overlooking the water.
Bryan has kept a low profile since confirming his split from the podcaster and internet personality Brianna “Chickenfry” LaPaglia last month. LaPaglia, 25, recently accused the wrestler of emotional abuse during the yearlong relationship.
One point of contention in their messy breakup is one of Bryan's pets, the cat Stump, which he shares with LaPaglia.
In a Sunday, Nov. 10, TikTok video, LaPaglia said Bryan took Stump “for granted” after his breakup. (Bryan's representatives did not respond Us WeeklyRequest for comment at that time.)
“I miss Stump a lot. I want to–capture him. But when [Bryan] he left without telling me anything, he took Stump out of grief. He didn't even like cats,” said the “BFFs” podcast producer. “[Bryan’s dog] Jack hates cats. [LaPaglia’s dog] Boston loves cats. I love cats. Can someone steal my cat?”
“The animals, in all of this, were one of the hardest parts,” LaPaglia said of his breakup. “Like, I'm thinking about Boston and Jack and Stump. I think about Stump every night.”
Days after LaPaglia made the claims, Bryan and Stump posted a photo to an Instagram Story the singer shared.
Bryan, 28, shared a photo of the “ol stump cat” resting on his shoulder on Thursday, November 14. The country singer called Stump “the best parrot on the shoulder.”
LaPaglia addressed the loss of Stump again on Thursday, citing a selfie on Instagram Story, “How we get the stump back.”
The exes' cat custody drama wasn't the only messy aspect of their split. After Bryan announced via Instagram last month that he and LaPaglia had “broken up,” the Barstool Sports personality shared a different version of events.
“Hey guys, I feel like my eyes are closed now. I'm going to go off social media for a while and try to make a living in private, when I'm ready I'll be back and ready to talk,” LaPaglia wrote on his Instagram Story at the time.
