Piers Morgan suggests 'The View' should be canceled due to Trump's win

Piers Morgan suggested Monday that ABC's “The View” be canceled after President-elect Donald Trump's victory, which has repeatedly prompted the hosts to question what is “wrong” with America.

“I don't like cancellation culture — but since the management of 'The View', by their own admission, has worked so hard to cancel Donald Trump, it's time for them to cancel themselves,” Morgan wrote in an op-ed for The New York Post.

The ABC News program is hosted by Whoopi Goldberg, Sunny Hostin, Sara Haines, Joy Behar, Ana Navarro and Alyssa Farah Griffin, all of whom voted for Vice President Kamala Harris this year, and who are often critical of the president-elect. . Navarro and Griffin identify as Republicans.

“They all despise their next president, and this pathetic, one-sided act won't play out now that he's been given an overwhelming endorsement from the American people,” Morgan wrote.

The hosts repeatedly discussed what went wrong for the Democrats in the past few weeks, as Hostin repeatedly blamed racism, sexism and misogyny for the vice president's loss. He also said “it has nothing to do with policy,” but “cultural resentment.”

Morgan described the supporters as “partisans competing over who hates Trump the most.”

“Because 'The View' has become a ridiculous, irrelevant thing that needs to be removed immediately – and our grief,” he added.

Several pointed to Hostin's question to Harris during a show interview with the vice president in early October as part of the reason why he lost to Trump. Hostin asked the vice president if he would have done anything differently than President Biden in the past four years.

“Nothing comes to mind,” replied Harris, who has allowed his critics to tie him directly to the unpopular incumbent.

On a recent episode of the show, Hostin and Griffin clashed over the school decision while discussing the issue of the president's nominee for secretary of education, which was quickly shut down by Goldberg before they could sell.

After returning from commercial break, Goldberg revealed the “beauty” of their show is that they have different opinions and co-host Joy Behar admitted they were all “sad.”

“We lost the election. We're sad. Part of this country is sad. And let's just be honest: We hate that you won. We hate you. And everyone is standing and going crazy right now,” Behar said.

The show has raised its ratings in recent weeks after being criticized for being out of step. In response to a report that it would change course or get a pro-Trump host, a spokesperson said, “'The View' is an opinion-based show featuring a diverse group of women with different opinions — the current panel resonates well with the audience given that the show just had its lowest-rated episode in over a decade.” and we hit a 4-year high in total viewers.”

A spokesperson for the program did not respond to a request for comment.
