Khalid Applauds Ex's 'Triggering' Pink Cocaine and Abuse Claims
Khalid taking the wind off her ex-boyfriend's back Hugo Almonte He made claims about their previous relationship and it seems he publicly outed her.
“I wanted to come here and talk about some things so we can leave all this in the past,” Khalid, 26, said in the video. X is shared on Monday, November 25. βI know it's not necessary. But I think it is important that I speak my side about this situation.”
The singer – who confirmed her gender earlier this month – said she wanted to address Almonte's allegations that he did drugs, paid for sex and was abusive when they were dating.
“I've never done cocaine a day in my life,” Khalid told his fans, referring to Almonte's since-deleted social media post on Friday, November 22, that “one of your favorite gay R&B artists” (apparently referring to Khalid) gave him pink cocaine. (Pink cocaine is a party drug that is usually a mixture of methamphetamine, ketamine, MDMA and other hallucinogenic drugs.)
Khalid (full name Khalid Donnel Robinson) continued, βI don't put myself in those situations. I'm not in those environments. I smoke weed. And I drink a little. But, I've never done cocaine a day in my life. Really.”
Khalid then addressed the “escort” claims that have surfaced, saying, “I've never paid for sex a day in my life. Always. I have never paid anyone to date me. I have never paid anyone to be in a relationship with me.β
The “Location” singer also denied Almonte's allegations that Khalid accused him of breaking into his home. In a since-deleted tweet, Almonte shared a selfie with Khalid, captioning it, “Ass π₯·πΎ lied and said I broke into his house because I don't want him.”
“I have never publicly accused anyone of breaking into my house,” Khalid replied. “The only people who even know how to hack are the ones I'm close to.”
In the middle of the video, Khalid revealed that he dated Almonte “four to five years ago” so he was surprised by the recent rumors about their time together.
“I last spoke to this boy four years ago. All this is not planned. I don't know why he did it. I don't know what is going on with him,” said Khalid. βMental health is real. It's been four years and I haven't talked to or seen this person.”
When Almonte's allegation that Khalid could be a “torturer” was brought up, the singer seemed upset.
“It's kind of upsetting to see a few comments β not that it's a narrative or anything like that β but it's upsetting to see a few comments from people painting me as a manipulative abuser,” she explained. “It's just crazy. About the abuse stories. It's starting.”
Khalid said, “It starts because it's the other way around, and that's what hurts.” He mentioned that he is not saying that he is “the best person in the world” but these insulting comments are “frustrating” to see.
“I'm not going to run like I'm not worried,” he continued. “I have never said that I am not bothered by anything. I am very worried about this.β
Khalid concluded by telling his fans that any new music coming out “has to happen before all of this.” He insisted, “I'm fine where I am.”
He continued, “I don't need public attention.” It's not my vibe.β
Khalid's video follows a series of tweets he posted on Friday in which he came out as gay after seeing comments from his ex-wife about his sexuality.
“I'm out and the world keeps turning,” wrote about X. “Let's get this straight (lmao) I'm not ashamed of my sexuality! In fact it is not the business of the people! But I'm alive π€ love yall.”
Khalid commented, βI was not hiding anything! It's not just about you.”
Almonte, on the other hand, told Vulture in a statement on Saturday, November 23, that “his intention was not to remove someone who is already out of the Los Angeles community.”
He added, βMy goals [were] to share my story and tell me how he tried to use his power to silence me because I ended our relationship, he was afraid of what I would say.”
