Daniel Jones opened up this week about his decision to sign with Minnesota Vikings as a backup quarterback after being released by the New York Giants following his request.
Speaking to reporters on Friday for the first time since he delivered his farewell speech to the media on New York, Jones sounded excited about joining a new team and working under head coach Kevin O'Connell.
“I'm excited to be here, I'm excited to be a Minnesota Viking – it's a great opportunity. I'm just looking to help and be a part of this team. We have great momentum and we want to help in any way I can.”

Jones signed with the Vikings as a backup in the backfield Sam Darnold, another former New York quarterback who left town on a sour note after his tenure with the Jets ended.
When asked why Minnesota was a good fit among other teams looking for help at the quarterback position, Jones pointed specifically to the success the offense has seen this season.

“I think you look, offensively, at what they've been able to do. I think the system, coach O'Connell, his staff — there's just a lot of good things going on throughout the team as a team, as an organization, but offensively especially I'm happy to join that and help where I can.”
In his sixth season with the Giants, Jones asked to be released after being benched in favor of third-string quarterback and fan favorite, Tommy DeVito, following their 20-17 championship loss. Carolina Panthers.
