Hunter Biden says his mistakes were 'exploited' in the political game, he will never be forgiven easily.

First son Hunter Biden said Sunday after his father, President Joe Biden, forgave him that he was “guilty” of his mistakes “used to humiliate and embarrass me and my family through political games.”

Hunter Biden, 54, was convicted of two separate crimes earlier this year — he was found guilty in June of three counts of federal firearms violations and pleaded guilty in September to a separate tax charge.

“I have admitted and taken responsibility for my mistakes in the darkest days of my addiction – mistakes that were used to publicly humiliate and embarrass me and my family through political games,” Hunter Biden said in a statement posted to Fox News. “Despite all this, I have remained sober for more than five years because of my deep faith and unwavering love and support from my family and friends.”

“As an addict, I wasted many opportunities and many benefits,” he continued. “In recovery we can be given the opportunity to correct where it happened and rebuild our lives if we never take for granted the mercy that was given to us. I will never take for granted the mercy that was given to me today and I will give my life. I rebuild to help those who are still sick and suffering.”

The presidential pardon for his son, announced by the White House on Sunday night, applies to crimes against the US that Hunter Biden “committed or committed” from January 1, 2014, to Dec. 1, 2024.

“Today, I signed the pardon for my son Hunter,” Biden said in a statement. “From the day I took office, I said that I will not interfere in the decision-making of the Department of Justice, I kept my word as I watched my son being prosecuted in a selective and unfair manner.”

The outgoing president also pointed out that his son is being “treated differently” in his criminal cases.

“Without the more complicated things like using it to commit a crime, making multiple purchases, or buying a weapon as a straw buyer, people are never prosecuted for crimes simply because of how they fill out a gun form,” the statement said. “Those who are late in paying their taxes due to addiction, but pay them back with interest and penalties, are often given non-criminal convictions. It's clear that Hunter was treated differently.”

President Biden went on to say that the charges against his son only came about because of Republican opposition and his victory in the 2020 election against President-elect Donald Trump.

“The charges in his case only appeared after many of my political opponents in Congress incited them to attack me and oppose my election,” the president said. “Then, a carefully negotiated settlement, agreed to by the Department of Justice, was revealed in court — and a number of my political opponents in Congress took credit for bringing political pressure to bear on the process. If the plea agreement had been there, it would have been a fair, reasonable resolution of Hunter's charges.”

“No reasonable person looking at the facts of Hunter's charges would come to any other conclusion than that Hunter was singled out because he is my son — and that is wrong,” he continued. “There was an attempt to break Hunter – who has not eaten for five and a half years, even in the face of constant attacks and special persecution. When they tried to break Hunter, they tried to break me – and there is no reason to believe that it will stop here.

The president also blamed “green politics” for the persecution of his son.

“Throughout my career I have followed a simple principle: just tell the American people the truth,” he said. “They will have a common sense. Here's the truth: I believe in the justice system, but as I struggle with this, I also believe that green politics has infected the process and led to a miscarriage of justice – and I once did that. This decision this weekend, there was no sense of reversing.”

He concluded by saying: “I hope the American people will understand why my father and the President will take this decision.”

A court document obtained by Fox News shows that Hunter Biden signed his name to an official pardon.

In the gun case, Hunter Biden was found guilty of making a false statement in the purchase of a firearm, making a false statement related to information required to be maintained by a licensed firearms dealer in the state, and possession of a firearm by a person who is an illegal user or addict of a controlled substance.

Prosecutors want to prove he lied on a federal gun form in October 2018, when he checked the “No” box when asked if he was an illegal drug user or a controlled substance addict.

Another trial is looking at three tax crimes and six tax crimes for failing to pay at least $1.4 million in taxes. As jury selection was about to begin in Los Angeles federal court, Hunter Biden filed suit.

Trump previously said during his campaign that he would consider pardoning Hunter Biden.
