Rebecca Minkoff Says Danny Masterson Was 'Supportive' When They Met

The Real Housewives of New York Rebecca Minkoff talked about his previous connection to the scandal Danny Masterson.

The fashion designer, 43, appeared on the Monday, December 9, episode of the “Two Ts in a Pod” podcast and shared details about how she knew the convicted rapist in the past.

“When I first started, he was incredibly supportive,” Minkoff told the podcast's hosts Teddy Mellencamp again Tamra Judge, noting that in 10 years he “has not seen or spoken to the actor”.

According to Minkoff, he met “girls and actors who were excited to wear my product” through fellow Scientologist Masterson when he was an aspiring designer, adding that That '70s Show the alum introduced her to her famous friends who were willing to wear her designs.

Minkoff didn't dwell on Masterson's legal problems, however, and told Mellencamp and Judge, “And that's all I can say. I did not participate in the case. I have no details.”

Masterson was convicted of two counts of aggravated rape for incidents that occurred in the early 2000s. The actor, who strongly denied the allegations, was sentenced to 30 years in prison in September 2023. (That same month, his now ex-wife, Hi Phillipsfiled for divorce. They share daughter Fianna, 10.)

Four women said in March 2017 that Masterson sexually assaulted them in the early 2000s. The fifth woman came forward in December 2017, saying that while she was dating the actor, he “raped her repeatedly”.

Masterson maintained his innocence and pleaded not guilty to three counts of rape in January 2021. His first trial began in the fall of 2022, ending in a trial. Masterson was tried again in the spring of 2023 when he was convicted of two counts of rape.

Before being convicted of rape, Masterson was best known for his role as Steven Hyde in That '70s Show from 1998 to 2006 and his role in Netflix's The Ranch as Jameson “Rooster” Bennett from 2016 to 2018.

Meanwhile, Minkoff has touched on his relationship with Scientology in the past and opened up about his beliefs when he appeared on the “Dinner Party With Jeremy Fall” podcast in October 2021.

“Scientific science, the word itself means knowledge,” Minkoff said at the time. “That's all you say.”

He continued: “I am a Jew, so my beliefs are about Judaism and God and I go to Scientology to learn knowledge,” he continued. “And that's spiritual because I'm not working my abs. We simply separate the body from the spirit. It has helped me personally from my demons, my things I am not happy with myself.”
