Tiffany Henyard defiant after losing nomination, says voter suppression: 'The right to vote has been hijacked'

Dolton “Super Mayor” Tiffany Henyard is planning to fight back after losing the Democratic nomination for Thornton Township supervisor, the position she currently holds.

Henyard was ineligible to run in the Dec. 3 caucus because he did not have a certified examiner on his ticket, which is a requirement for all nominees.

He objected to the hearing that night, saying, “It was voter suppression,” in an interview Thursday.

On Saturday, he revealed during a meeting that he plans to sue Sen. Napolean Harris of Illinois, a Democratic Party committeeman who chose to have a caucus instead of a general election and won the nomination.

“What happened to us on December 3rd was not fair,” Henyard said. “We didn't have a chance to be heard.”

“On December 3, 2024, your right to vote was hijacked by a member of your committee, Sen. Napoleon Harris,” he said.

“Put respect in my name because I'm loved all over Thornton Township,” he told his fans, according to FOX 32. “That's why I keep going. That's why I never give up.”

Henyard called for “voter rights justice,” which he said was removed from the caucus. He insisted that the program was “fake” because his supporters were not allowed to enter the room during the caucus.

“Hundreds of eligible voters, including the elderly, local mayors, local aldermen, local state senators and state representatives have been locked out and forced to stand in freezing temperatures unable to access the voting process in a timely and proper manner,” he said. .

His supporters also pointed out that Thornton Township has not held a caucus in decades and only recently changed in this election.

Harris denied that he had done anything, insisting that the people still had their say.

“The people of Thornton Township may be new to caucuses because they haven't had one in a long time, but this has been a tradition in many other townships in the state,” Harris said last week.

Although not a Democratic nominee, Henyard could still be on the April ballot for Thornton Township supervisor as a write-in or independent.

At the township election board meeting on Friday, he insisted, “People will put me on the ballot.”

Henyard is currently running for re-election as mayor of Dolton as he faces several ongoing scandals involving alleged money laundering and political targeting.
