A beach store in Cherry Grove, SC was severely damaged after an overnight collision
A driver drove into the front of a Beachfront store and rental store Saturday night in Cherry Grove, destroying furniture and smashing a window, store owners said on social media.
Cherry Grove Beach Services shared photos Saturday of the early morning accident. A red car ran off Main Street and crashed into the store around 12:30 a.m., according to the store's Facebook post.
A picnic table was destroyed and the front door was blown open with several holes. The owners asked anyone with information to contact the North Myrtle Beach Police Department.
Cherry Grove Beach Services did not respond to a request for comment prior to publication. The Sun News requested an incident report from North Myrtle Beach police.
The store will remain open while we repair the door. It was open on Saturday but closed on Sunday as usual.
The accident happened a day after Cherry Grove Beach Services announced its Beach Express Shops, which will rent beach equipment at Ocean Drive Pavilion, Harold's on the Ocean and Ocean Drive Beach and Golf Resort.
Two years ago, Cherry Grove Beach Services sued the city of North Myrtle Beach and accused the city of complicity in the suspension of beach rental equipment. In September, a judge ruled against the city that it was legally allowed to have beach chairs and umbrellas.
Cherry Grove Beach Services has been fined more than $20,000 after it continued to set up beach chairs and umbrellas for shoppers despite being told to stop by the city, The Sun News previously reported.
