A tornado struck Oklahoma in the middle of the night
Several dangerous tornadoes formed around midnight in Oklahoma, causing extensive damage across the region, including near Tinker Air Force Base, Harrah and other parts of the Oklahoma City metro area.
A threat of severe weather remains, including a tornado watch in effect until 9am for much of central and east Oklahoma. Bad weather is expected to return next Sunday.
Damage assessed after storms pass
In Stephens County, a sheriff's office dispatcher said there were reports of power lines down. Emergency crews were out in the region checking for any further damage.

The Oklahoma City Fire Department responded to reports of tornado damage south of Tinker Air Force Base and in far eastern Oklahoma County along the Kickapoo Turnpike.
The severe weather threat continues Sunday through Monday
The National Weather Service said Sunday morning that the state will continue to be at risk of severe weather Sunday as thunderstorms develop in the afternoon and evening. Flooding will also be a threat.
The storms will leave the area on Monday.

A tornado warning has been issued for Lincoln County east of Oklahoma City. This includes Wellston.

Take action now. A warning means that someone has seen a tornado or has been identified by weather radar. Under a tornado warning, there is imminent danger to life and property. Everyone should move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a solid building and avoid windows.
