Adam Kinzinger Brutally Sums Up The 'Whole' Republican Party In Just 1 Dictionary

Former Rep. Adam Kinzinger (R-Ill.) — a frequent critic of Donald Trump after losing the 2020 presidential election — expressed why it's “interesting” that critics label him with the acronym “RINO,” which stands for “Republican In Name. Only.”

“The truth is that the entire Republican Party today is a RINO. They are Republicans in name only,” said Kinzinger in an interview with Salon shared on Saturday.

“They hold the title of the Republican Party, most of them still think they hold the legacy, but that's okay, it's gone.”

Kinzinger, the focus of the new documentary “The Last Republican” from “Hot Tub Time Machine” director Steve Pink, said that “what it means to be a Republican now” is that he is “driven by anger” and division.

“I think what they stand for is supporting a culture war, anger, and one person, one personality, and that's Donald Trump. Now, they will never admit it, but that's your truth,” he said.

Kinzinger — one of 10 House Republicans who voted to impeach Trump for his role in the deadly January 6, 2021 attack on the US Capitol — served on a House committee investigating treason.

He endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris in last year's election and, in a speech at the Democratic National Convention last year, declared that he “puts our country first.”

Kinzinger, in a separate interview with Forbes, said he has built “new alliances” in recent years and has realized that he is “probably closer to a Democrat now because of how the Republican Party has changed.”

“Democrats are now the party that defends America's role in the world, that defends Ukraine, which I really like,” said Kinzinger, who predicted that the GOP is “temporarily toast” as Trumpism “won't last four years.”

The former congressman, in an interview with Salon, said he thinks Trump is “still a lame duck” before noting that his control over his base like no other president “could cause “concern” for Republicans when his second term ends.

“If you think about George W. Bush at the end of his second term, the Republicans were falling. That will not happen with Trump,” said Kinzinger.

“All the Republicans who should have fallen will still have to face re-election even though Donald Trump doesn't.”

Kinzinger said he doesn't think the GOP can be “saved any time soon” but he hopes people don't “give up”.

“Because the truth is that there will probably be two major parties in this country, and the Republican Party will be one of them. We can write it off and lose the election, with results like the one we just had, or we can continue to fight internally,” he said.
