Anna Sawai Explains Why She's Not Worrying About the 2025 Golden Globes

Shogun Get out Anna Sawai is gearing up for her first Golden Globe Awards, but she's not worried about the event or the chance to walk on stage and walk away with a trophy.

“I feel like the more I think about it, the more nervous I get,” Sawai, 32, said to himself. Us Weekly in 2025 WWD Style Awards on Friday, January 3, while you're gorgeous in a custom Louis Vuitton dress. “So, I don't think about it at all.”

Shogun it was also nominated for three more Golden Globes, including Best Television Series, Drama and an individual acting nod for Sawai's Consumers. Hiroyuki Sanada again Tadanobu Asano. “I feel like winning the Emmy has allowed me to not worry about it anymore, in a way that it doesn't matter,” Sawai said on Friday. “I got an Emmy and that's amazing, and this time it's a celebration for everyone. I don't want to focus on who won and who didn't. I think it made me learn a little bit.”

Sawai took home the trophy for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series at the Emmys in September 2024 – the first actress of Asian descent to receive the honor.

“I was crying before my name was announced. I am confused today,” he said in his acceptance speech at the time. “I thank my team and I also thank my family. Mom, I love you. You are the reason I am here. You showed me stoicism and that's how I can express it. This is for all women who expect nothing and continue to be an example to everyone.”

Sawai has since paid tribute to his loved ones after his victory.

“I bought a Cartier ring for my sister and mother,” he said Us. “But, it's not mine. I always try to give more than I handle myself.”

Sawai's Emmy win and Golden Globe nod were both tributes to him Shogun the role of Mariko, who died at the end of season 1.

“I personally feel like his story is over, and it's complete,” he joked on Friday. “So, I'm not asking to come back.”

That said, if Shogun the creative team wanted Mariko back, and Sawai “will do that”.

Until then, Sawai has his eyes on the big screen.

“I want to make a film. I feel like I haven't made a film in a long time, and I want to do something that feels independent,” she said. “I'm just reading texts, something that might be like a bitter love story. I'd love to.”
