COCA is accepting applications for the second round of arts education grants

The Council on Culture & Arts opened a new round of Arts Education Grants Program on Monday. This is the first time that an additional round of the program has been offered within one academic year.

Open for applications in mid-January, this grant supports arts teaching methods by funding art-related projects not supported by school budgets. Open for the next five weeks, this second round will allow teachers to apply who didn't have time before, who are new to teaching this year, and who are looking to expand on previous programs or introduce new projects in the classroom.

“This program has helped countless teachers over the years introduce new and exciting programs into the classroom,” said Sahara Lyon-Mundy, Arts Education Manager at COCA. “The second round of the FY25 Arts Education Grant will allow educators to continue and implement new ideas for their students to learn and grow.”

Previous Arts Education grant recipients include Julie Childers from Tallahassee Classical School, Michael Scarpone, Hawks Rise Elementary, Katie Aylward-Smith, Raa Middle School, and many others.

The Arts and Culture Council has funded several arts educators and organizations through their upcoming FY25 Grant cycle. In addition to its Arts Education Grant program, COCA has a Cultural Grant Program and a Cultural Tourism Marketing Grant program.

This coming fiscal year will see both grant programs fund nearly $2 million in arts and culture programs and marketing programs for more than 30 local arts organizations in Leon County to help boost tourism.

Next year's grantees include 621 Gallery, Southern Shakespeare Company, Tallahassee Ballet, LeMoyne Arts, Tallahassee Civic Chorale, Opening Nights, and more.
