Dan Campbell acknowledges Dan Skipper of the Lions as he cleans up during the post-match victory speech
All the Detroit Lions have been doing lately is winning football games.
The Lions, led by Dan Campbell, eliminated the Green Bay Packers for an NFL-best 12th win on Thursday night. Campbell's fourth down play helped lift Detroit to a 34-31 victory.
The Lions' fourth-year coach opted to keep the offense on the field on fourth down and five. But the fifth in the fourth quarter was the most important. Although quarterback Jared Goff fumbled during a trade with running back David Montgomery, the Lions were still able to put Lions kicker Jake Bates in a 35 field goal attempt.
Bates split the upright as the final seconds ticked off the clock.

A fired-up Campbell spoke to the team in the home locker room after the game.
“I told you you'll never forget this f——- game,” Campbell said as the Lions cheered. “We don't have to talk about how strong we are. We don't have to talk about how strong we are. We——- live, man. We've been alive!”

At one point during Campbell's fiery victory speech, he noticed that Lions hard-working Dan Skipper was leaning against one of the locker room trash cans. Skipper took over for the Lions starting left tackle Thursday in place of the injured Taylor Decker.
“There you go, Jump! Keep throwing, keep doing whatever you're doing out there,” Campbell said. “That's a way to put it in line.”
Skipper delivered a solid performance, allowing just one touchdown in 44 pass blocking games.
Although the Lions have won 12 of 13 games this season, the team has struggled with injuries.
In October, star defenseman Aidan Hutchinson broke his left tibia and fibula. The injury may keep him out of the regular season, but he could return to action in February if the Lions advance to the Super Bowl for the first time in franchise history.
“I'm so proud of you. That's how you show yourself,” Campbell said. “You talk about pressure? We live under pressure. That's where we grow. You did it again. It doesn't matter who's playing with us. It doesn't matter what's going on.
“You always find a way to win. This is here, man. It's already started. We should all come together, man. We were made for this. Just stay the course.”
