Delpo is coming to Delray.
Former Delray Beach Open and Grand Slam champion Juan Martin del Potro returns to the DBO for the first time in six years to play in the Legends event of the tournament on Opening Weekend, the tournament announced.

Along with other Legends that will face them Bob and Mike Bryanthe best doubles team ever to win 16 Grand Slam titles and six DBO trophies. French Open Champions Luke and Murphy Jensenand Delray singles champions Sam Querrey, Jack Sock, Tommy Haas and Xavier Malisse will include the legendary Opening Weekend Feb. 7-9 including the qualifying rounds of the ATP event.
The ATP tournament runs from February 10-16 featuring two-time defending champion and world no.4 Taylor Fritzand last year's No. 11 runner-up Tommy Paul.
Also confirmed to play is the world number 35 Brandon Nakashima and 39 Matteo Arnaldiand past champions Reilly Opelka and Kei Nishikori.
“I'm very excited to be back in Delray Beach, which is a very special place for me in my career,” said the 36-year-old del Potro. “I have good memories, especially when I won the title in 2011. I look forward to greeting the fans and the entire organization.”
In 2009 del Potro, a 6-foot, 6-inch Argentinian with five-time defending champion Roger Federer won the US Open at the age of 20, after defeating Rafael Nadal in the semifinals. . He looked like the future of tennis at the time, but was sidelined for much of 2010 with a wrist injury.
The Delray Beach Open was the first title in his 2011 comeback. He returned to the tournament for another four years, the last in 2019 when he was ranked 4th in the world. He is tied for sixth on the all-time hit list in the tournament with 14.
Del Potro won a total of 22 titles in his career, reaching the No. 3 in the world and won Olympic silver at the 2016 Rio Games. He officially retired from tennis last December in a sold-out show in Buenos Aires against 24-time Grand Slam winner Novak Djokovic, but played his last ATP Tour match in 2022 due to a knee injury.
