Disney's Snow White | Official Trailer | In theaters March 21

It's no surprise that Disney's latest foray into the live-action space has come in the remake of the animated classics Snow White and the Seven Dwarves. Granted, re-releases aren't inherently bad but this latest Marc Webb project may be the straw that breaks the camel's back. Many of the remakes have been criticized for lacking the magic and charm of their animated counterparts. That may be true in some cases but Snow White seems like a remake to take the cake for that and the movie hasn't been released yet.

Not only does it seem like the film is going against what made the 1937 film so memorable, it decided to delay its release to 2025, which is usually not a good sign.

Snow White is no longer a love story

Rachel Zegler as Snow White

According to actress Rachel Zegler's comments, “People make these jokes about our net being like PC Snow White, when it's like, yes, it is – because it needed that. It's an 86-year-old cartoon, and our version is a refreshing story about a young woman with a job beyond that “One Day My Prince Will Come“.

Making the character go beyond the love story is great, but if the filmmakers are recreating an old fairy tale that was heavily based on the idea of romance and a strong love story, not making romance the main focus of the said review will lead to a reduction of what the 1937 film achieved.

It may not be Zegler's fault that he was cast and it is a big problem that depends on Disney but the fact that the Mouse House cast a Columbian instead of a white actor when the movie is called “Snow White”, not “Off White”.

Destroying the fabric and race of who Snow White is supposed to be almost does an insult to the character. He is a great actor but this was not his car.

Broadcast comments and director's silence

Director Marc Webb

Zegler made no mistake by spitting on the legacy of the 1937 film and he and the filmmakers decided not only to make a love story but also add (mostly) little CGI instead of real actors.

In addition, the director Marc Webb of the duology of “The Amazing Spider-Man” did not talk about the movie about the movie and apparently he was tapped to direct the Bermuda Triangle movie. That's probably because he knows that the “White Man” will absorb him.
