Dodgers' Freddie Freeman Kisses Wife After World Series Grand Slam
Los Angeles Dodgers star Freddie Freeman made history when he hit a walk-off grand slam in the first game of the World Series on Friday, October 25 – and he got to share that moment with his family.
After the game, Freeman, 35, ran to find his wife Chelsea Freeman waiting on the edge of the baseball diamond. They soon hugged a big bear and kissed in front of the cameras.
Thanks to Freddie's walk-off grand slam – a home run when three bases were already loaded – the Dodgers won the game 6-3. Chelsea also celebrated the occasion through social media.
“!!!!!!!! WALK OFF GRAND SLAM,” Chelsea, 33, captioned an Instagram Story pic of the moment on Saturday, October 26. “Am I dreaming or is this real life?!”
Chelsea was actually Freddie's second stop after the show ended. He first celebrated this moment with his father, exchanging high-fives.
“He has been practicing batting since I can remember. My life is because of him. My path is because of him,” said Freddie in a press conference after the game. “I am what I am because of him. All the batting practice, all the endless hours we spent together on the baseball field, we still do in the off-season. He's still throwing punches.”
Freddie also revealed that his father was “nervous” before the World Series, the Dodgers playing the New York Yankees.
“I just wanted to share that with him because he's been there and he's been through a lot in his life,” said the MLB star. “I just wanted to be a part of it at that time because that's a lot of time. Because if he didn't throw me a batting practice, or even if he didn't like the game of baseball, I wouldn't be here playing this game. That's it Fred Freemana minute there.”
Chelsea also posted a photo of Freddie and her father on her story the other day, writing, “This photo is everything.”
Freddie signed with the Dodgers in 2022, one year after winning the World Series with the Atlanta Braves. Throughout his MLB career, Chelsea has been by his side. (They got married in 2014.)
Chelsea watched Friday's game with her father-in-law, along with her and Freddie's three sons. They share Charlie, 8, Brandon and Max, both 3. Max, meanwhile, has just been recovering in hospital after being diagnosed with Guillain-Barré syndrome.
