Florida man physically abused child for nearly 30 minutes over missing couch cushion: deputies
A Florida man was arrested on suspicion of child abuse after he allegedly screamed and abused a child for about half an hour over the loss of a sofa, according to officials.
Lance Rachel Sr., 42, was charged with child abuse and battery by strangulation. He was booked into the Osceola County Jail.
The Osceola County Sheriff's Office said the incident happened on December 7 at a home in Kissimmee, Florida, but was not reported until days later.

The sheriff's office has opened an investigation into the December 11 incident.
Rachel Sr. he was angry because the couch cushion had been removed and accused the child of lying, according to the sheriff's office.
The suspect punished the child “cruelly” by screaming and abusing the child for 28 minutes, the checker's office said.
Deputies said the deceased was beaten with a belt more than 50 times, choked and called obscenities and other obscenities.
At one point, the suspect threatened to break the child's jaw, according to deputies.

Some of the events were captured on surveillance cameras inside the home, deputies said.
On December 16, deputies interviewed Kimberly Rachel, 35, who confirmed that the incident had occurred. He was arrested and charged with failure to report known child abuse.
