Gabriel Basso Performs His Own Stunts in Night Agent

Gabriel Basso he prefers to do his pranks whenever possible.

“I think that can be misconstrued in the world like, I do it because I want to say I can do it, and it's really not about that,” The Night Agent star, 30, said during Tuesday, January 14, appearing on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. “For me it's about immersing the audience.”

Basso stars in the Netflix series as FBI agent Peter Sutherland, who works in the White House as a Night Action phone operator. He told Fallon, 50, that if the audience is watching The Night Agenthe wants them to feel that his performance is believable.

“I don't want the audience to watch this show, and then I'm about to be hit or thrown on my butt or thrown on my back. I feel like it's a lie,” said the actor. “I enjoy acting, I don't like telling lies.”

For Basso, he sees it as “a difference” when it comes to performing stunts “for the sake of audience immersion” and “for the sake of believability.”

“They love Peter [and] watching him make hits is important, I feel like,” he explained. “And if that requires me to throw myself against a wall, that's fine. It's not the end of the world.”

One stunt that was on Basso's table was skydiving – something he has already done in his personal life.

“[Netflix] I brought it up as an idea and I said, 'Oh I already skydive. I will,'” Basso said. “But then the insurance company called and it was like, 'Yeah, stop it.'

Fallon then showed a photo of Basso skydiving.

“I went down to Skydive San Diego,” Basso explained of a photo of himself flying through the air. “I got my A-Class certificate”

The broadcaster at night then realized that he was holding a picture of Basso in the air upside down. Basso posted a photo of himself in the sky “looking cool in a different way” as his back is seen facing down.

“I love that. That's hard to do,” Fallon quipped before recreating the pose in his chair. “You really have to arch your back.”

Last month, Basso made a landmark appearance on Netflix during the Christmas football game between the Baltimore Ravens and the Houston Texans. Basso parachuted out of Houston. After completing the stunt, he then revealed that the trailer for season 2 of the The Night Agent it has fallen.

“It was great to see Houston dream. Definitely a memory! ” Basso said in the Tudum of Netflix in December 2024.

The Night Agent Season 2 will premiere on Netflix on Thursday, January 23.
