“I'm very disappointed to tell you that I can't play this tournament” said Sinner in a video posted on X by the organizers of the event. “I came here early in the morning to get ready and I feel sick. I have a virus at the moment … Physically I am not ready to compete, I am very sorry for that.”

The Italian is 65-6 with seven titles on the year so far. He won his first two major titles in 2024, at the Australian Open and the US Open. He will next compete at the ATP Finals in Turin.
“Now definitely the most important part is recovery and getting back to 100 percent physical,” Sinner said.

“Maybe the next three, four days, I feel better and then I start training again, and then the main goal will be Turin. But, you know, right now, it's more important to see how I feel in the coming days, and then hopefully I'll be ready for Turin.”
He was replaced by Arthur Cazaux who lost to France in a draw.
