Jay-Z's lawyer is asking a judge to deny an alleged sexual abuser's request that his name be withheld.

A lawyer for Shawn Carter, the hip-hop star known as Jay-Z, asked a judge Monday to deny a request to withhold the name of the woman who accused Carter of raping her in 2000 when she was 13 years old. , allegedly dating rapper Sean “Diddy” Combs.

In a statement filed with the court, Carter's attorney, Alex Spiro, said the prosecutor's decision to file a case against Carter under the name “Jane Doe” “is inconsistent with a genuine effort to determine the truth or falsity of these allegations as opposed to an attempt.” for prompt, legal redress.”

Spiro said Carter “respectfully demanded that the allegations be dropped or that the identity of the Complainant be revealed.”

Texas-based attorney Tony Buzbee, who filed the lawsuit against Carter and Combs, responded to Spiro's proposal in an interview Monday with NBC News. “Anyone who suggests that the letter they need, especially the one I sent, is a scam or a hoax, is a fool,” said Buzbee.

“These types of wanted letters are sent out every day across the United States, and trying to attack me to take my eyes off a criminal suspect is not going to work and it's not going to scare us,” he added.

In the lawsuit against Carter and Combs, filed in the Southern District of New York, the accuser says the assault happened after they were taken to the MTV Video Music Awards party in 2000.

In a lengthy statement Sunday night, following an NBC News report on the case, Carter denied the allegations, calling them “stupid” and accusing Buzbee of misconduct.

“These allegations are so bad that I urge you to open a criminal case, not a civil case!! Anyone who would commit such a crime against a young child should be locked up, don't you agree?” Carter said in a statement sent to NBC News. “These alleged victims would deserve real justice if that were the case.”

Buzbee has filed multiple lawsuits against Combs in recent months, accusing the “I'll Be Missing You” singer of assault and rape. Combs has been charged by federal prosecutors in New York with racketeering, sex trafficking and other charges. He is being held in Brooklyn and is scheduled to be arraigned on May 5.

In a statement, Combs' legal representatives called the charges against them “publicity shaming, designed to extract payments from celebrities who fear that lies will be spread about them, just as lies are being spread about Mr. Combs.” Combs' representatives emphasized that their client “has never sexually abused or trafficked anyone — male or female, old or young.”

In the lawsuit against Carter and Combs, the “Jane Doe” accuser said a limousine driver who worked for Combs invited her to a house party after the VMAs and told her she “deserved what Diddy wanted.”

The driver eventually took him to a white house with a U-shaped driveway, where he had to sign a non-disclosure agreement to enter the party, according to the suit. The event was full of celebrities and drug addicts. He was given a drink that made him feel “shaky, woozy and numb [like] he had to sleep,” the suit said.

He went into the bedroom to rest and, shortly after, Combs and Carter entered. He alleges that when Carter took off her clothes, he held her down and raped her while Combs and an unnamed female celebrity watched. She alleges that Combs raped her again while Carter and the unnamed woman watched.

The lawsuit alleges that the accuser was able to resist being forced to perform oral sex on Combs by hitting her on the neck. After the alleged assault, the lawsuit says, the accuser “took her clothes” and left. He went to the gas station and called his father.

The plaintiff is seeking unspecified damages. The case was filed under New York's Victims of Gender-Motivated Violence Protection Act.
