He added of Streisand, “She was the type, like a typical Jewish mother who would say, 'You can't do that because it will hurt you.' You know, you have to eat. You look a lot thinner.' … He's like, 'Why are you drinking? You're a drunk.'”
Brolin said he “loves that level of honesty, no matter how I react. I'm like, 'Look, you're not going to stop me from doing what I want to do. I'm old.' And he was like, 'No. He is an alcoholic. I will not give you wine. Drunkards cannot drink wine because it is bad for them.'”

Eleven years ago, he remembered waking up outside his house and remembering a fight at a fast food restaurant in Santa Monica. He picked himself up and went to see his 99-year-old grandmother, when he arrived he was struck by the thought that he was in the middle of his life.
