Kacey Musgraves' Dog Was Bitten By A Snake After Trying To Save Her

Kacey Musgraves' The dog, Pepper, is a hero.

Musgraves, 36, revealed on her Instagram Stories page on Sunday, October 27, that her loyal friend is recovering at home after being bitten by a rattlesnake. Previously, the “Slow Burn” singer shared that Pepper “honestly saved” her from stepping on a snake while barefoot during a recent tour.

“Copperhead: 1, Pepper: 0,” Musgraves wrote in her book Stories, per Entertainment Weekly.

The country star rushed the Australian cattle dog to the vet for antivenin treatment, and posted several photos and videos showing Pepper with an IV.

“The bite made him weak,” he said in his stories. “Those with Blue Heelers know that they have never been this quiet.”

As of Sunday, Pepper has been in rest mode.

“She's home and sleeping a lot / on pain meds and getting a lot of love,” Musgraves reported while posting a series of snapshots of Pepper lying in bed. The Grammy-winning singer added: “Thank God for beautiful dogs.”

He posted one photo that appears to have been snapped at a vet's office, where someone opened Pepper's mouth to reveal bruises on his gums.

“This is strange, but the vet was showing me how badly the inside of his mouth and his neck were damaged from this snake bite,” said Musgraves, citing the photo.

Back in March, Musgraves released her sixth album, Deep Welland after that he started a world tour. The concert film based on the tour premiered on Amazon Prime earlier this month.

On Sunday, Musgraves again entered Instagram sharing photos and videos of his life riding horses in the countryside and spending time with Pepper in the studio.

“October is coming to an end. 🤎,” he captioned. “Here's to seeing more sunsets – whether you're getting up for it or you're already up, more sunrise rides (and coffee for that sunrise), fresh sourdough made by a friend, brave dogs that save you from stepping on a snake you didn't make. I don't see on your back porch, new songs, and all the other little sprinkles.”

Musgraves' fans shared their support in the comments section.

“Pepper is the cutest girl, I hope she gets well soon,” one fan wrote, while another commented, “Pepper gives everything and asks for nothing. “

Earlier that day, the artist dropped some photos on the grid – this time, he revealed her spooky Halloween festivities. She's dressed like a fairy for the event, complete with a little green dress and wings and a tiara. He guests included model Karen Elson and other people in the music industry.

Musgraves, who likes puns, wrote: “A good time for fiction.”
