Katie Taylor defeated Amanda Serrano by unanimous decision ahead of Jake Paul vs Mike Tyson

Katie Taylor defeated Amanda Serrano on Friday night in a slugfest remarkably similar to the original two years ago, before the Jake Paul vs. Mike Tyson showdown.

Taylor retained his super lightweight championship with another controversial decision. Taylor was scored 95-94 by all three judges, drawing breath from the crowd at the home of the NFL's Dallas Cowboys ahead of Paul and Tyson.

The 38-year-old Irishman remains the undefeated champion in both the super lightweight and lightweight divisions. It was the third win since his first loss to Taylor (24-1, six knockouts).

Serrano, who was still punching despite a nasty cut over his left eye in the sixth round, was a crowd favorite as he was in another controversial decision at Madison Square Garden in 2022.

In that sold-out slugfest, they were the first women to headline a ladder match. The 36-year-old Serrano, a seven-division champion, went 47-3-1 with 31 strikeouts.

It may have started slower than the meeting in New York, but things changed when Serrano landed a nasty uppercut, forcing the referee to call a timeout midway through the sixth round.

Serrano didn't stop punching, however, and seemed to have Taylor on the move as the final seconds ticked away in the 10th round.

Taylor was knocked out by a point with a headbutt in the eighth round.

Taylor was fighting for the first time since avenging her only loss by defeating Chantelle Cameron for the undisputed super lightweight title in a rematch in her home country last year.
