'Kingdom' and 'Stranger Things' Actor Mark Withers, 77, Dies

Mark Withers, best known for roles in Majesty again Stranger Thingshe is dead. He was 77 years old.

Daughter of an actor, Jessie Withers, confirmed that his father had died following a battle with pancreatic cancer, Variety reported on Friday, December 6.
According to the source, his death occurred on Friday, November 22. Mark is survived by daughter Jessie and wife Haiyan Liu Withers. The family suggested that donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital to honor his memory.

Jessie honored her late father and his legacy with a moving tribute, per Variety.

“She faced her illness with the strength and dignity she brought to her artistic work, leaving behind a legacy of warmth, humor, and devotion, as well as her amazing ability to make every role memorable,” she wrote. “Mark's talent and dedication to the industry will be greatly missed by colleagues, friends and fans alike.”

During his illustrious career, Mark played Ted Dinard in the first series of Dynasty, which ran from January 1981 to May 1989.

Her character was the love interest of the sexually confused Steven Carrington (Al Corley)one of the main family members in the series.

In dramatic scenes, Steven's father Blake Carrington (John Forsythe) accidentally kills Ted after seeing him hug his son – marking the end of Mark's time on the show.

Most recently, Mark portrayed Gary in the hit Netflix series, Stranger Things. The actor was a local coroner and appeared in the first season.

Throughout his acting career, Mark also has closing credits on numerous TV shows and movies, including. Castle, Criminal Minds, Dallas, Days of Our Lives, Drop Dead Diva, again Fraser.
