Kylie Kelce Makes 'Black' Jokes During Jason's Engagement Proposal
I won't lie, Kylie again Jason KelceThe matter of marriage has Us to laugh out loud.
“His proposal is perfect for us,” Kylie, 32, said on the Sunday, January 12, episode of Allison KuchThe “Sunday Sports Club” podcast. “We dated, I believe it was three years before he proposed.” It was the weekend of boot camp, so I was pretty sure we weren't going to get engaged for another year. … Once football starts, it's football. Nothing else.”
According to Kylie, the couple went to see her parents for dinner on one of Jason's rare days off before the start of the NFL season, taking their dog along for the ride. As the two prepared to leave, Jason, now 37, paused.
“We go outside, get in the car, ready to go and Jason turns around and says, 'I have to run back inside,'” Kylie recalled. “And I said, 'Really? This is the time to take it as a ? … Hurry up.'”
Kylie waited in the car while Jason went back inside. “I didn't know, [he] I was asking permission from my parents to marry him,” she said. “So he leaves within five minutes. I know my husband. That wasn't enough time to take it as—. So you get back in the car and I just said, 'Get back out there and finish your business.'
Kylie told Jason that she refused to stop when they got home, but kept insisting that she was fine. “All this time, he's just quiet and restless. He's like, 'I don't need to take it like,'” she said.
The two were still on their way when Jason finally popped the question. “He turns around and says, 'This isn't the most romantic way to do this, but I need you to get out of the truck,'” Kylie continued. “And as soon as he said 'love,' I knew what was going on. Romance is not something this man is good at.”
Kylie “just started crying” — and she doesn't remember anything else. “I disappeared. I don't know what this man is saying to me. I'm sure he asked me to marry him. I'm not 100 percent sure, but there was a ring and I put it on,” she said.
The proposal took place “right on the front lawn of my parents' house” with no photo or video evidence of the momentous step. “Honestly, she nailed that part,” Kylie added. “It was perfect.”
He continued to joke, “I felt a little guilty that it was a whole conversation about taking it as a — lead [it].”
Jason and Kylie were matched on Tinder while in college. “I sent him a pickup line. I said, 'I need a LifeAlert. I fell for you and I can't get up,'” Kylie recalled on the podcast, revealing Jason's reaction. “He texted and said, 'No, you're going to have to try harder.'
Kylie's second attempt — “If I told you I worked for UPS, would you let me carry your package?” — left him more impressed. At the time, none of Jason's photos showed that he was playing for the Philadelphia Eagles, but after a little digging online, Kylie discovered the truth.
“Yeah, my friends and I were like, 'Catfish,'” he recalled. “So, when he said, 'You have to meet us at this bar,' my one friend who's my ride-or-die friend … he was like, 'We should go because if it's him, it's funny. [and] if it's not him, it's even funnier.'”
The two's first date didn't go well – as some fans know, Jason was drunk enough to fall asleep at the bar – but the two hit it off in the end. They tied the knot in 2018, welcoming their daughter Wyatt one year later. Their family expanded with daughters Ellie and Bennett in 2021 and 2023, respectively.
Kylie and Jason announced in November 2024 that baby number 4 – another girl – is on the way. “People put this crazy pressure on my husband that he should have a boy because he's going to follow in his footsteps and he's going to be a football player and he needs to play catch in the yard,” Kylie said on Sunday. “I hate to break it to you, but our kids play with him in the house all the time. He is alive.”
