Marty Baron, former editor of the Washington Post, criticizes the paper's disapproval
Jeff Bezos' decision to block the president's approval of the Washington Post was met with a strong backlash — including from the newspaper's journalists and popular former Editor-in-Chief Marty Baron. “I see this as a betrayal of the important principles of the Post Office,” he told Ali Velshi. He calls the circumstances in which this decision was taken – a few days before the next election – as “highly suspicious.” However, he hopes people will keep their subscriptions to support Post reporters. “People should try to imagine a world without the Washington Post … We would be weaker as a democracy.”
