Max Emerson, Andres Camilo Split After Losing Home In LA Fires

“After nine years together, we have decided to separate,” Emerson and Camilo wrote in a joint statement on Instagram on Monday, January 13, along with a series of photos during their relationship. “The fire that took us hastened this decision by giving us clarity and simplicity. The two explained that they have realized that it is “time to start over” their lives and “as individuals,” but noted that they do not regret the years they spent together.

“Our time together was never wasted,” they continued. “We still love each other fully, deeply, and unconditionally. That love never ends; it is flexible. We are part of the ways with respect and gratitude, taking forward everything we have learned.”

Emerson and Camilo revealed earlier this week that their home was one of the homes lost during the wildfires, which began in Los Angeles on January 7 when strong winds caused brush fires to spread quickly in and around Pacific Palisades. more than 12,000 buildings, and placed more than 150,000 people under mandatory evacuation orders.

At the time, Emerson and Camilo took to Instagram to reveal that almost “everywhere” in their neighborhood was “burnt down,” but clarified that they were safe in Utah for work.

“We're so grateful to be somewhere that feels safe right now,” Emerson said in a January 10 video. Camilo added, “We feel so lost for everything at home, for everything our neighbors are going through. Everyone is doomed.”

While Emerson said the two were “sad for our world right now,” Camilo noted that they were grieving the loss of everything they had, including things like “art,” “pictures” and other “valuable possessions.”

“We are filled with gratitude and a deep sense of loss,” Emerson captioned the post, promising more engagement in the coming days as “the number of things to consider is overwhelming right now.”

Emerson returned to Instagram on January 11 to share a video of their home in flames and a carousel of happy moments. He revealed that he and Camilo have “completely restored” the house “with the hope of starting our family” there.

It's all overwhelming, so please bear with us if we don't talk properly for the next few weeks. Thank you for always coming for us.”

Emerson ends this post by calling out their neighbor, who “did everything he could to save our home.”
