Milo Ventimiglia became emotional as she revealed that her Malibu home was destroyed in the Los Angeles fire – in shockingly similar circumstances to her own. This is us character, Jack Pearson.
Ventimiglia, his wife Jarah Mariano41, who is nine months pregnant, visited the remains that were burned in the place that was the home of the couple before it burned to the ground. CBS News Thursday, January 9.
Talking to CBS News while surveying the damage, Ventimiglia, 47, admitted that the loss felt “hard.”
“You start thinking about all the memories in different parts of the house and what's missing and then you see your neighbor's houses and everything around you and your heart just breaks,” he said.

“It's kind of a scary time where you go, this is real, this is happening and at some point you just turn it off,” he said. “What is the use of continuing to watch? We accepted the loss.”
Coincidentally, one of Ventimiglia's most famous characters, This is us' Jack, died of smoke inhalation after pot caused his family's home to collapse.
“You know, it's not over for me, the acting life,” said Ventimiglia CBS News of the similarities between the fictional scenes and his real life situations.

“We have good friends and we have good people to work with and we will do. Wife and child and dog, the most important,” said Ventimiglia.
The couple, who were first linked in 2022 and married in 2023, revealed in September 2024 that they were expecting their first child together.
“Baby on board!” Mariano wrote in an Instagram post at the time, sharing photos of the birth while sitting on a surfboard.

The actress revealed that Mariano had just started watching the emotional series when she appeared on the “Lokho Kwas Us” podcast in October 2024.
“He can separate Jack and me, but he just cries,” he said with a laugh. “It's one of those things. She's still crying and she takes it so I don't scold her; I don't ask him, 'Hey, so tell me about this character, this scene, tell me things.' I'm waiting for him to want to talk to me about it.”
