Moldova's security adviser accuses Moscow of meddling in the election

The national security adviser of Moldova's pro-Western President Maia Sandu accused Russia on Sunday of interfering in the ongoing presidential election.

Stanislav Secrieru wrote on Sunday on platform X: “We are witnessing a serious Russian interference in our electoral process as Moldovans vote in the presidential election today – a powerful attempt to distort the result. The authorities are very careful.”

Authorities were reportedly shocked by the planned transport of voters to the polls in the breakaway region of Transnistria, where Russian troops are stationed, which Secrieru said was illegal.

The Secrieru also reported that scheduled transportation from Russia is being arranged with buses and chartered planes to transport voters to Baku, Istanbul, and Minsk. He shared a video circulating on social media that allegedly shows people carrying their Moldovan passports on a flight to Minsk.

There have been earlier complaints about limited voting options for Moldovans living in Russia, with only two polling stations open in Moscow. He said that this plane is a clear evidence of big efforts to transport voters.
